This is a personal project of mine that aims to raise awareness of the issues bluefin tuna face today. The image resembling Japan's flag shows the flag's iconic red circle as tuna and at a distance as a net connected to an industrial fishing boat just waiting to be hoisted up.

The image resembling Japan's flag functions as the main visual to raise awareness to the issue. Many visual elements I incorporated into designing the advertisement were inspired by 19th century Ukiyo-e woodblock printing. I incorporated the use of subtle gradients in the style of Ukiyo-e prints in the waves, red circle and background. The waves are also illustrated in a manner resembling the most famous Ukiyo-e print "The Great Wave off Kanagawa."
A detail of the image.

You probably noticed that the tuna fish that make up the red circle are red and might think to yourself "Hey, tuna fish aren't red! How could you mess that up Angel?" A quick google search for "tuna meat" will provide you with an answer to that design decision.
